The council declared a climate emergency in July 2019 and adopted a wide-ranging climate and environment strategy in August 2020.

Our strategy focuses on three areas:

  • reducing the emissions that our services and the services we contract out produce.
  • encouraging residents and businesses to reduce their emissions.
  • protecting and enhancing local green spaces.

Our target is to be carbon neutral by 2050, in line with national targets.

Hampshire County Council has its own climate change strategy and action plan.
