A recreation ground in Whitehill & Bordon will soon see a fantastic range of brand new sports and play equipment thanks to money drawn from local developments.

Residents in Whitehill & Bordon can look forward to a playground suitable for children of all ages, with new football goals and an outdoor gym.

The total cost of the project will be £164,662.02, with the funding coming from developer contributions earmarked for open spaces and sports facilities.

As part of the planning process developers make financial contributions towards upgrading local infrastructure. This money was collected from developers to fund community projects across the district.

Local people can bid for the money to help fund community projects. Applications are then assessed by officers and, in Whitehill & Bordon, are approved or declined by Cllr Andy Tree, EHDC Deputy Leader and Portfolio Holder for the Whitehill & Bordon area.

Cllr Tree said: “This is a wonderful new play park for Whitehill & Bordon residents to enjoy. It is a brilliant project which will be great fun for a lot of the young people living in the area.

“Residents approached me about upgrading Hollybrook playpark earlier in the year. I listened and am delighted to have been able to to sign off the funds to support this scheme, from the pot of funding allocated to the Whitehill & Bordon area.”

The full project, anticipated to be completed by the end of 2024, will see:

  • New football goals
  • Brand play equipment suitable for all children
  • An outdoor gym

Residents can have their say on the full details of the plans through a public consultation which can be found on the link below and runs until noon on Wednesday 20 December 2023. And they can speak to EHDC staff in person at the Whitehill & Bordon Christmas Fair at the Forest Community Centre on Saturday 2 December.
