Community groups, volunteer organisations and charities in East Hampshire can apply now for up to £10,000 for projects dedicated to tackling climate change.
A total of £50,000 is available through the second round of Community Climate Action Fund grants. £250,000 has been allocated to the fund over two years and the scheme is a demonstration of our commitment to provide community leadership to deliver carbon reductions across the district.
The application window is open now and will close at 12noon on Monday 30 October 2023.
To qualify for a grant, your project should:
- Engage with the wider community on climate issues.
- Support carbon reduction in East Hampshire.
- Support adaption response to climate change and encourage behaviour change. For example, the concepts of reduce, reuse, recycle to support waste minimisation.
The sorts of projects we’d welcome include, but are not limited to:
- Helping residents to save energy at home.
- Local car sharing scheme.
- Organising a community loan or swap scheme of some kind to support waste minimisation and encourage recycling.
- Reducing food waste. For example, community larders or pantries and community cooking projects.
- Greening projects. For example, community gardens, wildflower gardens and green roofs.
- Organising and hosting community learning events.
The first round of Community Climate Action Fund grants provided more than £125,000 to 13 projects around the district, ranging from making community buildings more energy efficient, to offering support and education within the community to help residents to reduce their own carbon footprint.
