Our first round of grants from our Community Climate Action Fund will provide more than £125,000 to 13 projects around the district, and we’re just getting started.
The grants, ranging from £4,000 to support the Alton Eco Fair to £18,211 to help provide solar panels at Treloar’s school will help make buildings more efficient, reducing costs and carbon dioxide generated. Some projects will also help provide more support within the community to help residents to reduce their own carbon footprint.
Councillor Robert Mocatta, portfolio holder for Regeneration and Prosperity said:
“This fund was set up to really make a difference in the community and I’m very pleased that so many local community groups have come forward with their projects.
“We have allocated over our original budget of £125,000 for the year and we could have more than doubled it based on the projects we’ve seen so far.
“Where some groups have been unsuccessful in this round, we will work with them to see if alternative funding is available, or if we can help develop their bid for the next round of funding.”
These grants are part of our commitment to support local action to reach net-zero by 2050 and follows on from two £25,000 grants to TPS, Petersfield and Eggars School, Alton to fund solar panels.
