Petersfield Town Football Club has installed new LED floodlights at their ground on Love Lane with help from the Community Climate Action Fund.

The 12 new LED floodlights are significantly more energy efficient than the old halogen lights and will help to keep electricity bills down for the club.

The halogen bulbs used approximately 30kW of energy per hour. This is expected to reduce to 14.4kW per hour with the LEDS, more than halving the amount of energy used and halving the club’s energy-linked carbon emissions.

A grant of £8,000 was awarded through our Community Climate Action Fund (CCAF), which supports new projects that will benefit the wider community and encourage education on the response to climate change.

Councillor Penny Flux, Climate Action Assistant portfolio holder for EHDC, said:

“Energy efficiency is a key way we can reduce carbon emissions in the district.

“Installing these floodlights will help to keep the club’s bills down and reduce the amount of power they use generally.

“I encourage any community groups that have similar ideas to get their applications in now for the current round of CCAF funding.”

Applications for CCAF funding are open now and will close at 5pm on Monday 26 August 2024. Grants are available up to £15,000 with a total pot of £70,000 for this round. Support is available for any groups that need help putting their application together.
