EHDC’s Cabinet has declared its former offices at Penns Place surplus to the council’s needs.
We will now work with our partners on how the land will be used in the future.
Our staff moved out of Penns Place and into Monterey House, our new offices on Bedford Road, in March 2024.
Since then we have stripped and decommissioned the building which had served as a base for the council since 1974.
The council is incurring costs associated with holding Penns Place as a vacant site so a solution for the future of the site should be identified as quickly as possible to limit the length of time this expenditure is required.
Cllr Richard Millard, EHDC Leader, said: “The council has to take care with public assets and public finances and it will look to maximise the value of this brownfield site.
“At the same time it will continue to work with other landowners to work out how the best sports facilities can be provided at Penns Place, while respecting the environmental designations affecting the site.”
As part of our transformation programme we have undertaken a review of our properties with a view to ensuring any which are no longer required are declared surplus to requirements.
Alongside the Penns Place, Cabinet also declared some other parcels of land surplus.
These include:
Land next to Forest Community Centre, Bordon
Former Doctors Surgery, 28a Park Street, Bordon
Amenity land at Dell Field, Froxfield
Land at Manor Estate, Alton
Land adjacent to Dennis Way, Liss
Land adjacent to Conde Way/Apollo Drive, Bordon
Rogers Court Car Park, Alton
