Jobseekers looking to take their career in a New Direction headed to a jobs fair in Whitehill & Bordon last week.
The fair, funded by EHDC’s Grow Up! programme, gave local businesses the platform to showcase their vacancies and connect with potential candidates.
Held at the Forest Community Centre, the fair saw nine businesses, including Tesco, offering vacancies for those looking to return to work.
Three employment advisors were also on hand to offer support and advice on things like CVs and job searching.
The event was organised by Fedcap, a not-for-profit organisation which delivers employability support programmes in local communities to improve people’s economic mobility.
Cllr Rob Mocatta, EHDC’s Portfolio Holder for Regeneration and Prosperity, said: “Events like these are a great way to give people looking for work a foot back in the door.
“Businesses also find them very useful not just in terms of meeting prospective staff but also networking amongst themselves.
“Our Grow Up! programme is committed to supporting rural businesses in the district and offering local people new employment opportunities. Fairs like this one are a great way to do both.”
